6 Days Old...

Today the pups are six days old.  They are all eating (or rather drinking) great, except Fragoso, who seems to have a hard time getting and keeping a good place since he's quite a bit smaller than his siblings.  I was having some trouble bottle-feeding him, because it didn't seem like he was getting much.  Finally I discovered that the hole in the nipple was too small- should have checked that a long time before.  Anyway, he's doing better now.

 I finally got around to putting together a decent box for them and now Inez is spending about 98% of her time in their nice big plywood box on the deck feeding the her puppies.  

Sprinkling baking soda between the layers of bedding.  (Helps keep down on the smell.)
Finished product.  (The darker colored places are stains, the blanket is actually clean.  The yellow powder is sulfur, which keeps fleas away.)

 She is also enjoying raw, grass-fed beef liver, fresh raw milk, and raw eggs.

I will continue posting pictures of them, and describing their growth.  Two of the black puppies still need homes.  I don't know which ones yet as the sire's owners want one of them, but haven't decided which.  Hopefully I will know by tomorrow.  They will be available to good homes for $210 each.

Puppies For Sale!

Looking for a good family dog?  Need one who will be friendly with your animals?  We are offering Inez's puppies for sale/adoption to good homes.  As stated in other places on this blog, the sire is a beautiful, purebred Chocolate lab who lives near us.      Inez is a full-blooded Great Pyrenees.  We used to lose chickens to the many predators which live all around us (foxes, raccoons, opossums, hawks, and coyotes, etc.)  But since we got her, we have lost hardly any poultry at all.  In fact, we no longer even need to shut or lock the coop door at night.  (Note:  We do not guarantee that the puppies will be as good at protecting as she is- simply that they come from a dog who is excellent at it.)  She is also super sweet to people and our farm animals.  She is gentle, and enjoys being petted, and although she is slightly reserved with strangers, she has never been at all aggressive.  Little children l...

Natural cure (and prevention) for foot rot in goats and other animals
