Boer/ Nubian Kids for Sale

Mabel kidded today (May 29th) with triplets.   And, for the first time, I got to be present for the birth!  I am so glad to have finally gotten to be in on it.  And turns out, it was a good thing I was since the first kid was upside down.  It wasn't too much of a problem, but it would have been much harder on Mabel if I hadn't been there.  And we even got the whole thing on video.  (Which means that I will inflict it on my readers as part of the "Another Day with the Goats" series.)

The sire of these kids is Rejoli Farm's Ricky, ABGA registered 100% Boer.

Here is a fullblooded Boer buckling from Ricky:

Mystic Dawn Luna (a.k.a. Mabel) is an ADGA registered American Nubian.

Mabel is a good milker, and fun, friendly doe.  You can learn more about her on my Goats page.

The kids are for sale.  I will be keeping them with Mabel until they are a bit older, as she needs to be milked constantly, and the best way to accomplish this is to leave her greedy babies with her.  So I am planning to keep the kids until they are at least 6 weeks old, but am open to selling them as bottle babies if desired.  I will hold them with a deposit until they are ready to be picked up.  While they are here they will be handled a lot, and treated with the same care as our other animals.  I will wether the bucklings for free, if so desired.  I will also disbud them if they are not too old when I receive a deposit on them.

They may be registered as 50% Boers with the American Boer Goat Association if I can get a service memo.  The buck was sold after Mabel was bred to him, so there are a few issues to work out.  Let me know if you are interested in getting papers on these kids!

There are two bucklings and one doeling.  The doeling is not available.

These pictures were taken the day they were born.  For more recent photos of them, please visit this blog post:   http://mychickenscraps.blogspot.com/2014/06/more-kid-pictures-mabels-nubian-boer.html

The kid in the front with the Boer markings, and the red kid in the back are the bucklings.  The white kid lying down is the doeling.

Marvelous Seeds- Natural Dewormer for Dogs and Others

Naturally de-worming animals can be challenging, and some people will say that you are just better off going with the chemicals.  There are several problems with chemical wormers however.  You see, a chemical wormer is actually a poison, which is fed to the animal in large enough doses to kill, or expel the worms, but in small enough amounts that it hopefully will not injure the animal.  Trouble is, worms have an ability to build up resistance to the chemical poisons used in these wormers.  For example:  A few years ago, when I first started with dairy goats, I had major trouble with worms.  In fact, I lost quite a few goats to them.  I tried using the chemical wormers- SafeGuard (at 4 times the dosage for horses, for 3 days straight), and Ivermectin.  The goats' hair remained curly (a sign of a heavy worm load), and their gums and eyelids were pale.  Finally, most of them died- including three beautiful purebred, registrable Nubians.  I...

Puppies For Sale!

Looking for a good family dog?  Need one who will be friendly with your animals?  We are offering Inez's puppies for sale/adoption to good homes.  As stated in other places on this blog, the sire is a beautiful, purebred Chocolate lab who lives near us.      Inez is a full-blooded Great Pyrenees.  We used to lose chickens to the many predators which live all around us (foxes, raccoons, opossums, hawks, and coyotes, etc.)  But since we got her, we have lost hardly any poultry at all.  In fact, we no longer even need to shut or lock the coop door at night.  (Note:  We do not guarantee that the puppies will be as good at protecting as she is- simply that they come from a dog who is excellent at it.)  She is also super sweet to people and our farm animals.  She is gentle, and enjoys being petted, and although she is slightly reserved with strangers, she has never been at all aggressive.  Little children l...
