Feldman Family Pansy

Pansy is a beautiful heifer with a great temperament. She is well built, and in perfect condition. She has been very healthy her entire life, and has been kept on a good regimen of milk, free choice kelp based minerals, grass, and alfalfa hay. We do not practice feeding grain to our cows, as we feel that grass is their natural food, and the milk is much healthier if they are fed exclusively grass.

Pansy is used to having her udder handled quite a bit, and allows me to "milk" her without much fuss at all, if any. She also picks up her feet, and leads okay. (I am working on improving her leading training, and also teaching her to tether.)

She has a very small percentage of Holstein in her, and so is a little bigger than most Jersey calves. She is recorded with the AJCA as purebred Jersey because this percentage is so small. While she does not have full registration, she is eligible to be shown for 4H/ FFA.

Naturally de-worming animals can be challenging, and some people will say that you are just better off going with the chemicals. There are several problems with chemical wormers however. You see, a chemical wormer is actually a poison, which is fed to the animal in large enough doses to kill, or expel the worms, but in small enough amounts that it hopefully will not injure the animal. Several years ago, I began learning about the benefits of copper as a supplement. I learned that it is actually a necessary mineral for goats, cows and sheep, and is best absorbed in sulphate form.
