Please note: Bluebell has been sold. This posting is for reference only. Buttercup has been bred to a miniature Jersey bull, and is due next spring.
Well, Blossom finally calved. It was beginning to seem that she would never give that baby up! And now I like the calf so much that I'm wishing I could keep her. But... Two milk cows (Blossom and Buttercup, who was just bred) are enough for us, and we have a limited amount of grass. So here is some basic information on Bluebell.

Bluebell with Buttercup (full sister, 20 months old). |
Bluebell has already been disbudded, so she will not have horns. She has been on a bottle and with Blossom, and is friendly and curious about everything. She will usually stay just out of reach when she's loose, but when she is penned up she will come right up to us and look for a treat. She is handled every day, and is a very pretty little cow. Blossom and Peppy are both proven producers. Buttercup is Bluebell's full sister, and is good tempered and well grown. Blossom is an excellent family milk cow. She is so gentle that the little ones can ride on her back or sit on her when she's lying down in the pasture. Her peak milk production is usually about 3 gallons per day, and then drops to 2 gallons, or 6 quarts (1 1/2 gallons), and stays there for up to a year or more. She has long lactations, is a wonderful mother, even accepting other calves, and is easy to handle.
Here is a video of her being milked (second lactation).
Bluebell is for sale. We will hold her until she is about 6 months old, and fully weaned. If you are interested in her, please email me at chickenscrapsblog@gmail.com , or call or text 386-three one six-4844.
Asking $1,000, obo.
