Spring is right around the corner, and so is Fannie's due date.
(Sorry for the terrible quality and angle of this photo... It was taken with a phone and I couldn't see the picture on the screen.) |
Fannie (registered name: Acuarela de Benji ) is bred to Jesse el Rubio, son of 7 time Bella Forma champion, El Chino de El Batey.
Fannie is a wonderful horse, with lots of brio (spirit), which can make her a bit difficult for under-confident riders.
But she can also be very laid back, and calms down instantly for small children.
She is fun to ride because of her light, sensitive mouth, smooth gait, and speed.
Jesse el Rubio is a talented stallion with an amazing temperament.
He is trained to ride and drive, and is calm and gentle.
His gait is smooth and beautiful.
Please visit this blog post for a more detailed description of our visit with Jesse.
A slightly revised version of this story was published in the January, 2015 issue of Paso Fino Horse World.
And now here are a few photos of Fannie.
This one was taken just a week or two after she returned from the stud farm.
(May 29th, 2014)
Fannie at a friend's house. I was riding her over every morning (about 1.5 miles) for about 10 days to take care of their animals while they were on a trip.
(June 4th, 2014)
Fannie grazing in the yard,
Now her belly is starting to sag a little.
(September 26th, 2014)
Trying to stay warm! Now she is distinctly bigger in the belly.
(December 15th, 2014)
Fannie today, March 4th, 2015. Her due date is in early April.
I don't know yet whether I will keep the foal; I want to see and begin training it first. I am hoping for a perfect cross between Jesse and Fannie in temperament, with more of Jesse's looks.
If I decide not to keep the foal, it will be for sale to a good home.
For now though, I'm just looking forward to meeting it!
